The second recital in the 7th edition of Gaulitana: A Festival of Music was held on Sunday 24th April at the Bishop’s Curia Hall, Victoria – a completely new venue for the festival and which probably was hosting a concert for the first time ever. The proved to be an excellent venue for the performance given by the Gaudos Duo, a violin duo made up of Hungarian husband-and-wife David Land and Emese Toth, which was appearing in the festival for the second consecutive year. The duo played contrasting works by Telemann, Leclair, Beriot, Honegger, Wieniawsky, Paganini and Bartok, spanning from the Baroque to the 20th century. A very good audience, including quite a few students, was in attendance. This was led by H. L. Mgr Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo and his secretary, Fr Eddie Zammit as well as Gaulitana artistic director Colin Attard.
The festival continues on Wednesday 27th March with a piano duo recital being held at the Gozo Ministry’s Hall featuring Giuseppe Fricelli and three of his students at the Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini in Florence.
