Gaulitana: A Festival of Music entered its 5th week with the first of two vocal recitals given by an Italian trio: soprano Fulvia Mastrobuono, tenor Dario Di Vietri and pianist Davide Dellisanti. This was held at the Gozo Ministry’s Hall on Wednesday 17th April, with the trio presented a light repertoire ranging from saloon arias by Tosti, to Neapolitan classics and the odd number from operettas or operas. While the two very able young soloists alternated with each other and also performed two duets, the pianist provided some respite to the singers by giving two solo interventions himself: a popular operatic selection (arranged by Dellisanti himself) and Astor Piazzolla’s Libertango.

The very warm audience – led by Ex-Acting President Anton Tabone and Mrs Tabone, Sannat Mayor Philip Vella who was representing the Gozo Ministry and Gaulitana artistic director Colin Attard – received the concert very well and gave the performers a well-deserved standing ovation which the artists reciprocated by giving an encore.

Both the audience and the performers are now looking forward to the second concert, a Verdi commemoration, on Friday 19.
