They duo opened the concert with the Sonatina in D major Op. 137 by Franz Schubert. Then they passed on to Cesar Franck’s great Sonata in A major which stretches both instruments to the limits (with a particularly taxing piano part).
The duo concluded the recital with two works by Paganini, the Cantabile in D major and the Fantasia on the G string on a theme from Rossini’s Mose – the latter exploiting all that a violinist can attain from the violin’s lower string.
