For the second year running, the Gaulitanus Choir was invited to participate in the Gozo Tourism’s Authority’s Tourism Worker of the Year Event. Attended by several personalities associated with the tourism sector, this was held at the Grand Hotel, Mgarr on Monday 17th December with the winner being Joseph Tabone.
Being so close to Christmas, the choir opted to perform a very lively Christmas repertoire which was very much appreciated by those present. The first number was A Lilting Christmas, a medley arranged by choir director Colin Attard incorporating the songs It’s beginning to look again like Christmas, Nuttin’ for Christmas and Rockin’ around the Christmas tree also featuring soloists Terry Shaw and Josianne Callus. The second intervention was another medley, also arranged by Colin Attard, namely Christmas with the Spirituals made up of the songs Children, go where I send thee, Sweet little Jesus boy, Rise up shepherd and follow and Go tell it on the mountain with the participation of soloists Terry Shaw and Francesca Sciberras. The next number was a bouncy Alleluia! Gloria! from Tom Fettke’s musical Jesus of Nazareth. The final excerpt was Carl Strommen’s medley Together at Christmas consisting of Winter wonderland, Let it snow!, Have yourself a merry little Christmas and A marshmallow world featuring soloist Marthese Borg.
The choir was directed by its founder-director Colin Attard and accompanied by its resident pianist Stephen Attard.
