The Gaulitanus choir will present a concert "A Night with the Musicals" – one of a series of events organised by the Gozo Culture Council within the Minitry for Gozo labeled "The Gran castello Summer Nights". The Gaulitanus concert will take place on Wednesday, 22nd July 2009 at 21.00 hours at the St. John Demi-bastion at the Citadel in Victoria.

The choir will interpret selections from well-known musicals such as Lionel Bart’s "Oliver!", Richard Rodgers’s "The Sound of Music", Andrew Lloyd Webber’s "Phantom of the Opera", Michel Schonberg’s "Les Miserables" and Frederick Loewe’s "My Fair Lady".

The concert will feature some of the choir’s soloists, namely sopranos Stephanie Portelli, Annabelle Zammit, Maria Grech Magro and Margaret Plant, mezzo-sopranos Marthese Borg, Tricia Fenech and Patricia Buttigieg, tenors Terry Shaw and Joseph Buttigieg, bass Darren Vella as well as guest Gozitan-American soprano Pamela Agius. As usual the choir will be accompanied by its resident pianist, Stephen Attard and conducted by its founder-director, Mro. Colin Attard.

The light-natured music should be very fit for an open-air summer concert and, while it should appeal to a varied audience, it should also guarantee an enjoyable evening. The general public is invited to attend. Entrance will be free.
