The Gaulitanus Choir gave a daytime concert on Satuarday 19th @ 11.00 hrs as part of the Lejlet Lapsi – Notte Gozitana events. The well-attended concert was held at the Gozo Cathedral. Indeed several events in the morning were concentrated at the Citadel.
As a start to the concert, the choir performed two arrangements by its musical director, Colin Attard: Two Bristish Sacred Songs with mezzo-soprano Marthese Borg as soloist and Two American Sacred Songs with tenor Terry Shaw as soloist. Then the choir performed its major work, Benjamin Harlan’s Easter Trilogy – A Cantata in 3 Suites. The latter also featured Sue Scantleberry as narrator.
The choir was accompanied by its resident accompanist Stephen Attard with Colin Attard at the helm.
Yet this commitment was not the only one for the choir on Saturday. In fact the choir was back to the Citadel within a few hours animating the funeral mass of its musical director’s great aunt at the Gozo Cathedral.
The choir’s forthcoming event is a Musico-Literary Soiree at Gharb Basilica on Saturday 2nd June, an event being held to celebrate the opening of the Basilica’s Museum.
