The Gozo Tourism Association held its annual Gozo Tourism Worker of the Year Award 2011 evening at the Kempinski, San Lawrenz on Monday 19th December, during which Frankie Camilleri was presented with the award.
The Gaulitanus Choir was invited to present some musical numbers to
animate the evening, thus alternating with the various addresses made during the evening by GTA Chairman, Paul Scicluna, GTA CEO Joe Muscat, MTA CEO Josef Formosa Gauci, ETC CEO Claudio Farrugia, the chairman of the adjudicating panel Dr. Peter Fenech and the Minister for Gozo the Hon Giovanna Debono.
The choir welcomed the arrival of the Acting President of the Republic, Anton Tabone with tyhe singing of the national hymn. As requested the choir performed a mixture of Christmas numbers and others with a touristic/folkloristic appeal. Thus 2 Christmas medleys – A Waltzing Christmas and A Polka Christmas – arranged by choir musical director Colin Attard were interpreted. Carmelo Pace’s ever-popular a cappella choral song L-Imnarja was also on the programme as was Colin Attard’s own Ninni…Ninni, both based on traditional Mlatese themes. The evening was concluded with a rousing We wish you a merry Christmas.
The choir was accompanied by Stephen Attard and directed by Colin Attard.
The Gaulitanus now prepares for its Epiphany (End-of-Festive Season) Concert on January 6th at the Sam Lawrenz Church.
