Gaulitana: A Festival of Music continued on Easter Sunday with the first of 3 large-scale events presented in this year’s edition of the festival. A highly-appreciated choral-instrumental music, held in collaboration with the Victoria Local Council and featuring Baroque works, was held at St. Francis Church, Victoria.
The first part of the concert was devoted to instrumental works featuring the Gaulitana Festival Chamber Ensemble led by Nadia Debono. Pachelbel’s Canon and Gigue was followed by J. S. Bach’s Violin Concerto in A Min featuring young Gozitan violinist Pierre Louis Attard as soloist. The second part of the concert was devoted to Vivaldi’s famous Gloria. This featured the Gaulitanus Choir and visiting Italian guest soloists Aurora Tirotta (soprano) and Lara Rotili (mezzo-soprano). Mro. Colin Attard conducted the concert.
Victoria mayor, Dr Samuel Azzopardi and Father Superior Joe Xerri led a big audience which literally over-packed each corner of the church.
