Gaulitana: A Festival of Music continued last Sunday with a concert at the Gozo Ministry’s Exhibition Hall. German soprano Katharina Maria Kagel presented a varied programme ranging from operatic arias to operetta numbers and from semi-classical excerpts to Naepolitan ones. She communicated easily with the very sizeable audience present for the concert – indeed one of the best in this edition of the festival – by introducing each number herself. Kagel was accompanied by Gaulitanus Choir resident pianist, Stephen Attard, who on his own presented two acclaimed piano interludes of light music. Kagel and Attard acknowledged the audience’s warm response by performing two encores.
The festival now continues with a series of piano recitals at the Gozo Ministry ‘s Hall, the first being by Russian pianist-composer Alina Nenascheva on Thursday 19th April .
