The Tea Concert at the Hotel Ta’ Cenc

Yesterday, Sunday19th April, the Gaulitana: A Festival of Music continued with an unusual concert "Tea Concert: British Folk Music with Afternoon Tea" at the conference hall at the Hotel ta’ Cenc in Sannat at 17.00 hours.

While the guests partook of tea, quiches, and pastries, Terry Shaw and Gaulitanus Soloists entertained the guests with a program of folk-songs drawn from England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland. This concert started with an ensemble where all the soloists sung Lilli Burlero together and then a presentation of various songs from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England were sung by the solosists who were Terry Shaw, Deborah Zammit, Annabelle Zammit, Darren Vella, Margaret Plant, Maria Meilak, Particia Buttigieg, Maria Grech Magro, Stephanie Portelli and Joseph Buttigieg.These were very warmly received by the very numerous audience who enjoyed the show.

The Gaulitana a Festival of Music will continue next Tuesday, 21st April 2009 at 20.00hrs with the "Strings in a Museum" concert by the Thrings String Trio, to be held at the Rotunda Church, Xewkija. This international trio is made up of a Ukrainian, violinist Volodymyr Baran, an Austrian, violinist Svetlana Barer and a Swede, cellist Anja Inge. All have got international experience and performances under their belt. The program presented will consist of classical music by Johann S. Bach’s Die Kunst der Fuge (three movements), Ludwig van Beethoven’s Serenade in D major, Op. 8, (seven movements), Franz Schubert’s allegro from the String Trio in B flat major and four movements from Max Reger’s String Trio in A minor Op. 77b.
