Gaulitana: A Festival of Music is announcing a student scheme for the opera Tosca, being held at the Teatru tal-Opra Aurora on the 12th of April, 2014. Students at any educational institution will be offered a limited number of opera tickets at a reduced fee of €10.
This scheme forms part of the outreach imprint that Gaulitana wants to enhance, promoting culture to youths. Through Tosca, the organizers aim to expose further theatrical experiences to those in their academic formative years. Definitely, an opera is an ideal showcase of various co-existent disciplines – from the vocational arts of set-construction and light techniques to the performing arts of singing, playing and stage direction.
Tosca, the highlight of this year’s edition of Gaulitana is a collaboration between the local festival and Taormina Festival. Italian director Enrico Castiglione will direct a cast led by Norma Fantini, Piero Giuliacci and Francesco Landolfi. The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra will be under the baton of Colin Attard whilst the chorus will be the Gaulitanus Choir. The set and the costumes are designed by Castiglione and Sonia Cammarata respectively.
Students can obtain their tickets by phoning 99209779/99248963. The beholders of such tickets are requested to present their Student Cards at the door.
