Following on last year’s successful initiative, Gaulitana shall present once again the TALK re u series, Tuesday talks ushering in key events happening during the week. These will be held over three weeks between 3-17 April at the Gozo Campus of the University of Malta.
In the first session, Angelo Litrico discusses the history of the clarinet’s development, through various period instruments. This presentation will preview a concert of early 18th century music performed on historical clarinet, basset horn and historical guitar.
Commemorating the Bernstein birth centenary, Artist-in-Residence Alexander Frey is joined by Maltese choreographer and founder of YADA Felix Busuttil in exploring the life and works of the American master. Frey worked closely Bernstein, the latter describing him as a “wonderful spirit”. The talk leads to Frey’s performance of the composer’s complete piano works.
For the final session, Gaulitana presents a talk on Art & Music with three distinguished speakers: composer Federico Gozzelino who wrote a number of musical works inspired by artefacts, pianist Silvia Belfiore who interprets these works on Wednesday in a “concert with artefact projects”, and painter and Teatru Manoel Artistic Director Kenneth Zammit Tabona who has worked extensively in both art forms.
The TALK re u series is being held in collaboration with the University of Malta.
