Day 1 – From Malta to Perugia
After breakfast, the group toured some of the principal sites of this fascinating, picturesque and unique “Citta’ di Pace”. After lunch at the hotel, the choir moved to the Basilica Papale di San Francesco, where it was invited to animate the 18.00hrs mass at the wonderful Basilica Inferiore by the Cappella Musicale of the Basilica. As soon as the group arrived, it was offered a tour of the whole Franciscan complex by Padre Daniel. Eventually, the choir was welcomed at the Basilica Inferiore by Padre Giuseppe Magrino, the director of the Cappella Musicale and held a very short rehearsal.
At the end of the concelebrated mass, an enchanting experience for the choir, the Gaulitanus was offered a diploma by Padre Magrino certifying its participation at this sublime Franciscan church. Choir director Colin Attard, reciprocated by offering a memento. After the mass, the choir departed to Rome, courtesy of their “singing driver” Francesco.
