The first concert in the 7th edition of Gaulitana: A Festival of Music was
held on Wednesday 21 st March with an organ recital at St. Augustine
Church, Victoria. Entitled “Organ(ic) Clusters in a Cloister”, the recital
featured British organist Robin Walker, who thus was returning to the
festival after his appearance in the 5th edition in 2011.
Walker performed works by J.S. Bach, C.P.E. Bach, Samuel S. Wesley, Max
Reger, Louis Vierne and Frederick Frahm, thus bridging the late Baroque
with the contemporary. An appreciative audience was in attendance led by
the festival’s artistic director Colin Attard and Augustinian Fr. Peter
Paul Cachia – who avidly supports cultural events in his church.
Gaulitana continues on Palm Sunday at 19.30 hrs with a violin duo recital
by Hungarians David Lang and Emese Toth at the Bishop’s Curia Hall .
