A close look at the two Otellos – Rossini’s and Verdi’s – was the subject of a seminar hosted by the Istituto Italiano di
Cultura at its premises in Valletta on Saturday 8th February. This was organised by Gaulitana: A Festival of Music and the Manoel Theatre, who have joined forces to produce the two operas.

After a welcome address by Dott. Massimo Sarti, Director of the Istituto, introductions were made by the two artistic directors, Colin Attard and Kenneth Zammit Tabone respectively. Eventually, presentations by the two production teams were made, with Gaulitana represented by musical director, Colin Attard, and stage director, Enrico Castiglione.
Booking for both the Rossini and Verdi operas is open at the respective booking offices of the Teatru Manoel and the Aurora Opera House – where the Gaulitana’s Otello will be held on April 25 – with a specially reduced price when booking for both performances. The offer is valid till February.26th.
