Fresh from its successful East Anglia Concert-Tour, Gozo’s Gaulitanus Choir took part in the Malta International Christmas Festival. Organised by the Regjun Tramuntana in collaboration with Leon Promotions, the festival presented a number of foreign and local choirs. The Gaulitanus Choir participated in the event held at the Nativity of Our Lady Parish Church in Mellieha on Friday 7th December. The St Julian’s Choral Group (Malta), the Hungarian Starlight Youth and Adult Choirs (Hungary), the Corale Polifonica “Libere Armonie” (Italy), and the Mixed Choir of Levadia “Erkyna” (Greece) also took part.
The Gaulitanus Choir was very much acclaimed for its performance which included Christmas-related works by its founder-director Colin Attard – who also directed and accompanied the choir – as well as Leontovich’s famous Ukranian Bell Carol. The solo parts featured Annabelle Zammit, Stephanie Portelli, Marthese Borg, Joseph Calleja, and Robert Xerri.
This event was the first of a very busy Christmas programme for the choir which culminates in its annual A New Year’s Toast on January 1.
