Gaulitana: A Festival of Music welcomes back its artist-in-residence, US organist-pianist-conductor Alexander Frey. Returning to the festival for the first time since the pandemic, Frey will open his commitments for the week with an event commemorating the 75th anniversary from the death of the great American composer George Gerswhin. On Monday 21st March, Frey will present a lecture-recital at the Kempinski entitled “Gershwin: the man and his music”.
Being a very versatile artist himself, Frey will be in his mettle talking about the great American composer George Gerswhin – as the Gaulitana audiences know from past similar events. Frey will perform works for piano and illustrating all with some rare and interesting footage about Gershwin’s achievements in both the popular and classical genres. Indeed, the lecture-recital will be a rare treat to all musical buffs, coming from either end of the musical spectrum.
Entrance to the event starting at 19.30hrs is free. Reservations: bookings.gaulitana@gmail.com.
