On Tuesday 15th March at 19.30hrs, the festival is presenting a very particular concert at the Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz. “Per Musicam ad Divinum” (or “The Mystical Story of Christ” ) is a work in 7 movements for piano solo by Italian composer Federico Gozzelino, a regular name in the festival’s line-up in the last years. Italian pianist Silvia Belfiore will interpret the work inspired from the Gospels. Indeed, the relative Gospel excerpts will be narrated by Manuel Cauchi and Joanna Pullicino. To enhance the atmosphere, Italian Baroque paintings of the 7 scenes by Mattia Preti and Gioacchino Assereto (selected by Gaulitana art curator Joseph Calleja) will be projected.
The event, which is the first Lent-related one being presented in the ongoing ‘GauLive’ series, has also been featured in the Italian media. ‘Per Musicam ad Divinum’ is being held in collaboration with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura.
