On Friday 22ndNovember, the artistic director of Gaulitana: A Festival of Music, Mro Colin Attard, participated in a public seminar organized by the China Cultural Centre at its premises in Valletta, entitled “Walking in China”. The participants were the four partners of the CCC which took part in the Partnership Programme in China last summer, namely the Ministry of Culture, Heritage Malta, the Times of Malta and Gaulitana. The four entities were represented by director Mario Azzopardi, executive Fiona Vella, former chief editor Ray Bugeja, and Attard respectively.
During the seminar, the four partners made a presentation inspired by their visit to China. Colin Attard’s was an essay entitled “Symphonie Fantastique – A Musical Analogy … with apologies to Hector Berlioz”, which atypically recalled the China visit within a musical framework and which was very well received by those in attendance.
The sizeable audience was led by the director of the CCC, Mr Yang Xiaolong, who also introduced all the participants, and high-ranking Chinese Embassy official Ms Wang Zhaofeng, and also included some of the artists who had visited China as part of the Creative Art Project.
