The two Italian guest soloists who participated in the Easter Sunday’s concert returned to the Gaulitana concert platform on Tuesday 2nd April. Soprano Aurora Tirotta and mezzo-soprano Lara Rotili, accompanied by Italian pianist Angela Zaccaria, presented a vocal recital held at the Gozo Ministry’s Hall.
The repertoire ranged from arias and duets from operas by Rossini, Mozart, Cilea, Bizet and Offenbach to songs by Faure, Zandonai, Poulenc and Lorengar and was very much enjoyed by the sizeable audience which attended. Indeed the two soloists consented with an encore; their comic rendition of Rossini’s famous Cat duet practically bringing the house down.
