‘A Cappella Live’ continued on Wednesday 23rd November with an atypical lunchtime concert. While this was a normal public event, the concert welcomed Year 6 students from the Victoria Primary – thus adding another dimension to the festival’s educational programme.
The concert, entitled ‘Intermezzo’, featured the Clarinet Quartet of the Armed Forces of Malta – courtesy of the AFM and AFM Band conductor Cpt. Jonathan Borg. The quartet – featuring staff sergeant Dominic Scerri as 1st Clarinet, bombardier Jeremy Sultana as 2nd Clarinet, bombardier Lesley Tabone as 3rd Clarinet, and bombardier Ludwig Noel Desira as Bass Clarinet – presented a varied repertoire of enchanting accessible excerpts by Morricone, Zimmer, Mangani, Yiruma, Kamen and De Haan.
The lunchtime was held at St Francis Church, Victoria, which was fully and beautifully adorned for the upcoming feast of the Immaculate Conception and courteously made available by Father Superior Joseph Xerri. It also had the collaboration of the Gozo College and the cooperation of school head, Mr Lelio Spiteri.
At the end of the concert, all the students were offered a memento by festival secretary Josianne Callus.
