The Jesus of Nazareth Church (Nazzarenu), Xagħra, hosted ‘Fantasie’, the opening concert in the Gaulitana’s ‘A Cappella Live’ series on Sunday 20th November.
French guitarist Kevin Moindaze gave a much-appreciated solo recital of guitar works, performing a wide array of works ranging from compositions in the standard guitar repertoire by Carcassi, Dowland, Bach, Tárrega, Villa-Lobos and Regondi to others by contemporary composers Viñas, Brouwer, Ourkouzounov and Koshkin. Moindaze, who was participating in the festival for the third time, was afforded a standing ovation.
The concert was held in collaboration with the Xaghra Local Council, with mayor Dr Christian Zammit leading the audience, and courtesy of the church’s rector Fr Joseph Bajada, who was also in attendance.
