Gaulitana: A Festival of Music invites you for the launching of the upcoming festival on Sunday 25th March, 2018 at 11.30hrs at the Sentinella, Cittadella. An art exhibition entitled COSTANZO ROVATI: PERCORSO DI VITA will be opened by Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana and blessed by H.L. Bishop Mario Grech. The artist himself will be present for the inauguration whereas Artistic Director Colin Attard will also outline the festival’s artistic programme for the 2018 edition.
Costanzo Rovati was born in Milan in 1939. Since childhood, he always showed a great aptitude for drawing, with a particular predisposition to curiosity and originality. After an academic experience marked by strong opposition by his teachers, who were definitely reluctant to accept artistic experimentation, he decided to do it all alone, in order to discover new forms, new expressions and new artistic horizons. The peculiarity of Costanzo Rovati lies precisely in the fact that he does not repeat himself: each artwork is the result of an emotion filtered through a huge photographic memory that, combined with his easy manual skill, would be translated into creativity. The works of Costanzo Rovati are on display in important public and private collections in Italy, the US, France, Germany, Switzerland, England, Netherlands, Martinique and St. Vincent & the Grenadines.
Costanzo Rovati: Percorso di Vita is being held in collaboration with Verso l’Arte and Istituto Nazionale Arte Contemporanea. The institute shall also presenting a book about the exhibition for international distribution.
The main artefact, Insegnamenti (300x200cm), will serve as backdrop for festival concerts held at the Gozo Ministry Hall in St. Francis Hall. The exhibition will be open Monday to Sunday from 09:00hrs to 17:00hrs until the 29th April.
