Gaulitana: A Festival of Music is an annual springtime international festival, now established as a major artistic endeavour in Malta. Organized by the Gaulitanus Choir, the festival’s raison d’etre is to create a platform seeking to enrich Gozo’s cultural output in the leaner months of the year.
The month-long cultural bonanza presents a multifarious programme of events held in localities around Gozo including
- OPERA+ Weekend, three days of quality events intrinsically linked with an operatic production
- international and local artists starring in an eclectic mix of musical styles
- a multi-dimensionality extending to non-musical disciplines
- GAULearn, the festival’s educational programme

The 19th edition of annual springtime festival presents a multifarious programme of concerts and recitals as international and local artists star in an eclectic mix of musical styles. Defined “a major festival of classical music” by Musical Opinion (UK), events shall be held in multiple venues around Gozo.
The 2026 run offers a focus on choral activity as the educational programme GAULearn runs in parallel – the month-long cultural bonanza seeks to engage with aficionados and new audiences alike.
Gaulitana also celebrates the 125th death anniversary of Giuseppe Verdi with the festival highlight – Il Trovatore, a masterpiece of melodies and vocal fireworks. Held as part of the OPERA+ Weekend, the full-scale production features an international cast directed by Enrico Castiglione under the baton of Colin Attard
