YULETIDE WITH THE GAULITANUS
Notwithstanding the fact that the pandemic has played havoc with some of the Gaulitanus Choir’s standard commitments for the Festive Season, the choir has made sure that it does its bit to help brighten up the season for the community. While fully adhering with current Covid-19 regulations, it is presenting a mini-series of three varied musical events between Christmas and the New Year, entitled “Yuletide Bliss”.
The first event, “Strings in Concert” features the Gaulitanus String Orchestra led by Marcelline Agius and conducted by Colin Attard. Some well-known classical works for strings, amongst which Mozart’s “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik”, Jenkins’s concerto grosso “Palladio”, and Rowley’s “A Christmas Suite” will be performed. The concert is being held at the Sannat Parish Church on Sunday, 27th December at 19.30hrs.
The second event features violinist Pierre Louis Attard and Serbian pianist Milica Lawrence. Entitled “Folk-Inspired: A Violin-Piano Recital”, this presents a number of flowing and catchy folk-inspired classical works from different countries, including Malta. The concert is being held at the Kempinski San Lawrenz on Tuesday, 29th December at 19.30hrs.
The mini-series comes to an end with the 9th edition of “A New Year’s Toast”, as always on January 1st. The Gaulitanus Choir, two of its soprano soloists, Anna Bonello and Patricia Buttigieg, guest soprano Georgina Gauci and violinist Pierre Louis Attard will team up under the direction of Colin Attard to usher in the New Year with a varied selection of vocal and instrumental excerpts, mostly Christmassy. Due to the current restrictions, this time round this annual event is being held at the Ghajnsielem Parish Church, starting at 19.30hrs.
Artistically directed by Colin Attard, “Yuletide Bliss” is supported by the Cultural Heritage Directorate within the Ministry for Gozo.
All current health and safety measures issued by the Health Authorities are being observed and entrance is free. With limited seating available, reservations via gaulitanus@gmail.com are required with the contact details provided.
This apart, the Gaulitanus Choir will also be street caroling in Gharb on December 30th starting at 19.00hrs at Visitation Square. The event is being organised by the Gharb Local Council.
