Gozitan musicians Pierre Louis Attard and Milica Lawrence teamed up for the second consecutive year at Gaulitana in an enchanting duo recital. A programme of miniature works featured oeuvres by Weber and Martinů alongside Maltese contemporary composers Pawlu Grech and Alex Vella Gregory.

Distinguished performer and pedagogue Giorgio Albiani made a welcome returns to Gaulitana, this year together with fellow guitarist and international concert artist Adriano Rullo. At the picturesque chapel overlooking the Gozo Channel, the duo performed a rhythm-inspired programme for solo and two instruments.

The first Piano Duo recital at the festival presented musician and researcher Aleksandra Halat in tandem with locally-based accomplished pianist Julia Miller. Exploiting the full spectrum of sounds and techniques of the instrument, the Polish-born artists embarked on an intercultural musical expedition, including an oeuvre by Maltese composer Karl Fiorini.
Gaulitana: A Festival of Music invites aficionados to immerse themselves in a timeless musical experience.
Defined as “a major festival of classical music” (Musical Opinion UK), the annual springtime festival presents a multifarious programme of concerts and recitals in various localities around Gozo as international and local artists star in an eclectic mix of musical styles. The educational programme GAULearn and an exhibition on Puccini run in parallel as the festival aspires to kindle creativity in a month-long cultural bonanza.
