The vocal master class led by internationally renowned Maltese soprano Miriam Gauci – put on for the umpteenth time as part of the Gaulitana: A Festival of Music’s GAULearn educational programme – was a very successful one. This was held from August 19 t0 22 at the Visual & Performing Arts School in Xewkija, Gozo, courtesy of the school’s head, Mr Vince Caruana.
Due to oversubscription the master class actually had to be extended by a day, with the participants – a mixture of very seasoned performers, vocal tutors, and up-and-coming singers – thoroughly enjoying the 4 very intensive days of tutoring. As always, Ms Gauci passed technical as well as very practical tips – while also sharing several of her personal experiences – to all the participants. Inimitably, she was always very flexible to adjust herself to the needs and technical levels of the individual participants, thus making all very comfortable.
The master class came to an end with an enjoyable public concert on Friday, August 22, during which all the performers accompanied by Francis Camilleri, the master class’s repetiteur in residence.
All very excitingly look forward to another master classes as part of the forthcoming 19th edition of the festival in 2026.
